The dumpling recipe I shared last week is now posted on my website and Instagram, and it got me thinking…
I will admit, I’m one to take little trinkets from a restaurant. Not the kind of thing that would get me kicked out, of course—just something small, like an irresistible chopstick holder or a mini spoon that seems too good to leave behind.
If you’ve been around me for a while, you probably know that chopsticks are my Swiss army knife. I use them for everything—noodles, pickles, snacks straight out of the bag. Need to grab a stray cherry tomato from the fridge? Chopsticks. Stirring my coffee? Chopsticks again. So, when I spot a chopstick holder or set of chopsticks during a meal out, it’s like they’re calling my name. How could I leave without them?
And it’s not just about having them; it’s about using them—constantly. Cooking, eating, even shooting content, they’re always in rotation. Speaking of which, I obviously used chopsticks in the dumpling recipe I just posted (check it out if you choose)!
Plus, those little restaurant trinkets remind me of each meal, where I was, who I was with, etc. I’ll consider it a subtle nudge to keep exploring, cooking, and mastering the art of using chopsticks for everything. Next time you’re in a restaurant and your eye lands on a tiny spoon or a pair of chopsticks, just know I get it. And maybe, just maybe, your kitchen will thank you for it, too.
Kitchen tools and treasures:
Now this is a pair I have yet to come across — stainless steel chopsticks are just so chic.
For those who might not be fans of chopsticks, here’s an alternative: a silverware rest or a chopstick rest—your choice. I’ve been obsessed with all things green lately, but there are plenty of similar options available online. Plus, if you enjoy hosting, these make a perfect addition to your table setting.
