Art and food are so deeply connected—and that connection fascinates me. I’ve mentioned before how food is a work of art, but lately, I’ve wanted to dive deeper into that concept.

I’m constantly surrounded by inspiration, especially online. I spend hours scouring the web and social media, where artists and creators share their work in endless forms. And sometimes, it’s easy to forget just how much is within reach—more than we can even comprehend. But as much as I love getting lost in others' creativity, I’ve decided to take on a new challenge: getting lost in my own.

And the best place to start? The endless pool of art I’ve been collecting—virtually, of course. One thing I haven’t shared is how much time I spend on Pinterest. Whether I’m searching for ideas, giving my mind a break, or just opening it out of habit—swiping left and tapping the top-right corner where Pinterest has lived on my phone for years—it’s a space I constantly return to.

I want to make my creative process more cohesive by transforming the pins I save into recipes. Whether it’s through colors and textures or patterns and angles, I want to view these different forms of art as part of a larger, unified creative process. Just like the art I collect, my recipes are built in layers—especially since one of my favorite parts of cooking is combining bold flavors and vibrant colors until it almost feels like too much.

At the heart of it, art and food are the same. And I’m excited to explore that connection through my new series, If This Were Food—my way of blending my love for interior design, nature, photography, painting, and every form of contrasting or monochromatic tones with my love for food. Through this series, I’ll transform the art I’m drawn to into culinary creations that reflect the same patterns, textures, and design elements I find so inspiring.

Meet my recent pins.

So many notes of green, steel, espresso, primary contrasting tones, and herbaceous look-alikes!!!!

Meet the menu.

Thai green curry. Cherry pomegranate iced coffee.

Recommendations:

  • This recipe yields more syrup than called for, but be sure to save the extra. Add it to a cocktail, drizzle it over pancakes, or stir it into future coffees.
