Do you ever read a menu for so long?
I do.
Do you ever read a menu and feel completely confused?
I do. But I also feel so curious.
Some flavors seem so unique, and some ingredients feel like they don’t belong.
And the thing about me? I have to find out.
I went to one of my favorite cocktail bars in Detroit for drinks. Their menu is ever-changing, and that alone keeps me coming back. They don’t chase seasonal or trending vibes, which is another reason I’m a returning guest.
The bartenders are so skilled, making the first three sips of my drink such a treat: the first to try it, the second to savor it, and the third to fully appreciate all the menu elements that convinced me to order it.
I’ve always loved pistachios, but there’s something irresistible about those flavors in a drink. And corn? Well, I don’t usually have corn in a cocktail, but that night I did.
We ordered the Caballo Dorado and The Dabke.
Both were 10/10.

kitchen tools and treasures:
sweet chili sauce
Let it be known, if it’s not already, that Trader Joe’s is home to nearly all my favorite products. I’m mentioning this here because the recipe below calls for sweet chili sauce, and just as tasty as it is for the recipe, it’s equally important to have in your pantry because it’s so versatile. Throw it into any bowl, dressing, or use it as a dip, like I did below. It’s simply unbeatable.
